The AKademy

Welcome

To your next opportunity to maximize your potential as a player and athlete. This program has helped hundreds of athletes since it’s inception in 2021. Ready to unlock the next level of greatness hiding within you?

All players will receive expert coaching in the following areas:

  • There are a wide variety of skills in basketball to learn and master. We will cover every single one of them this summer and expand confidence and ability on both the offensive and defensive end.

  • Learn terminology and how to succeed in a variety of team offensive and defensive actions. Improving understanding on both ends helps to become an overall more effective player. For example, using and guarding on ball and off ball screens, floor spacing, help rotations, rebounding position, pace in transition, introduction to high school and college standard offensive actions like UCLA cuts, zipper action, hammer screens, etc., are topics we will cover.

We will also work on applying skills in small sided games and full court 5v5 scrimmages.

  • Players will learn how to move well and improve athleticism at the Sweat Lab for strength and conditioning workouts specifically designed to boost on court performance, stay injury free, and gain an overall edge over the competition.

Over the course of the summer athletes will learn the power and olympic lifts, and a wide array of accessory movements. We will further utilize tools to improve mobility, agility, speed, power, and stamina.

  • Each AKademy group will receive age appropriate challenges in leadership as well as expanded understanding of the importance of the mind and how to utilize different techniques to gain yet another edge over the competition.

This is intentionally woven in to daily workouts with potential for additional reading and guest presenters throughout the summer.

Which Group is For You?

Next sessions start MAY 26 - AUGUST 18TH

The AKademy Rising is for 6th - 8th grade basketball players pursuing stronger roles on their school or comp teams. It is a summer long program that goes in-depth into helping players improve confidence, athleticism, fundamental skills & understanding of the game.

The AKademy Next Level is for High School players who want to transform their abilities in order to compete at the next level. The “next level” for each player may mean something different: Varsity to College, JV to Varsity, C-Team to JV, but the standard of coaching in these sessions will be exactly what helps challenge each player to find where their weaknesses are and transform them into strengths. Several players in this program have moved on to play at the collegiate level.

Basketball Skill Development sessions

Mondays & Wednesdays @ 8:45 - 10:00am

Location: O’Malley Sports Center

Strength & Conditioning session options

Monday - Friday @ 1:00 - 2:00pm // Tuesday - Thursday 6:15 - 7:15pm

Location: The Sweat Lab

Consistency is everything. These workouts are 60 - 75 minutes of high quality development repeated daily. This format provides athletes with structure, accountability, and growth over the course of the summer that should ultimately lay an excellent framework for their continued development beyond summer.

It is highly recommended that athletes attend as many sessions as possible, particularly the on court basketball skill sessions. Full summer punchcards accommodate for 5 sessions per week. Other punchcards are use as you go with an expiration date of 3 months.

Note: June 2nd - 5th, and July 8th will be off from on court skills sessions.

THERE ARE 58 TOTAL WORKOUTS AVAILABLE THIS SUMMER!

There will be two AKademy Rising groups (A & B). A is for incoming 6th graders and 7th graders, or beginner 8th graders. It is what would be considered a “lower level” ability group with less competitive experience. B is for experienced 6th - 8th grade players who have more competitive experience under their belts and are prepared for more advanced drills and concepts.

In my many years of doing this, it is evident that there is a wide gap of ability and understanding of the game at this age, and the goal with having these two groups is to keep the make up of each group as close to each other as possible so athletes are appropriately challenged. If you’re still not sure which group your athlete would fit best into, shoot me an email.
