  • "Alysa has worked with all of our kids, and is not only an amazing coach, but incredible role model, as well. Our middle school aged kids spent a lot of time playing basketball, and Alysa has helped with the shooting details, thereby improving shot accuracy.Alysa is patient and makes the work fun, while also honing in on small details that make a huge difference! Thanks, Alysa!"

  • I have two who participate in the elementary basketball sessions, and they love it. They are always looking forward to the next session. Coach Alysa does a tremendous job of infusing fun and structure into her sessions while holding the players accountable and allowing them to grow at their own pace. Through my work at middle school, I have met players who have also attended the AKademy and have noticed the jump in their skills from their workouts over the summer. I recommend any of the programs from The Sweat Lab & Coach Alysa!

  • If you would like to have your son or daughter improve in the sport of Basketball, regardless of current skill level or athleticism, Alysa Horn is the best value available. She helps all skill levels and she is loved by all the kids. I have referred many and they all love her sessions and continue to go. I as a Coach get to see their individual improvements every time I see them after their training with Alysa Horn.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the skill level of these groups?

The skill level varies. The Elementary AKademy group is for players who are more advanced for their age (3rd - 5th grade), while the Intro group is very much for beginners of any age.

What are the practices typically like?

Our 60 - 75 minute workouts are focused on two things: get better and have fun. We go over everything, from spots on the court (does your advanced 5th grader know where the “slot” is?) to game rules (including taking ownership in your mistakes and not talking back to the refs), to every fundamental skill under the sun. Workouts are styled to follow this flow: one on one skills, team skills, competitive skills, game play. We do our best to try and hit all four of those each training session!

How many kids are there per session?

It totally depends… on average there are about 8 - 12 kids per session. We max it out, especially in the summer, at 16 per session. We can run very high quality workouts with this number, anything over starts to feel a little too much like a mini basketball camp and that’s not the goal here.

Who is usually leading these workouts?

Coach Alysa Horn. She has two years collegiate coaching experience, two years professional playing experience, and is a home grown Alaskan who looks out for Alaskan kids as if they were her own! Helping kids both develop their love and ability in basketball is a pillar of her coaching philosophy.
